![]() Motherboard "Name" : ACP1 BIOS Revision 0901 I will also move the Boot drive to SATA 1 socket.įor info, with that DVD drive connected and without the logo screen, BIOS stalled on the first 2 lines of info which said I will raise this, and how to resolve the external DVD drive stalling BIOS without disconnecting it, on a new question. I recall now that when I was using the Acronis boot disk to force a boot from the newly installed SATA 'C' drive (before I resolved the MBR error), I had the boot disk in this external DVD drive and had set the boot order to seek CD first. When that was disconnected, BIOS instantly went back to its usual 5 second loading. My apologies in my first night testing, I forgot the external DVD drive. Many thanks to all for comments and to ScottCha for being first with the solution. ![]() It takes at least 30 mins to do 3 re-boots !!! Frustrating. So, I am a bit slow in doing these tests. One question before I put the SATA boot drive to SATA 1 - my pair of SATA drives are on SATA sockets 1 and 2, if I change those to 2 & 3, will it disrupt the NVidia RAID data config ? All data is backed up in realtime.Īs I run graphics rendering processes that take most of the day at present, I can only do tests in the late evening when the processes end. So far testing does not indicate that it is an optical drive issue, not the IDE drive. It was booting quickly for about a week with the drive setup as it is. I only had it in to collect some of the config settings and file setups with material resources in some large graphics programs I am re-installing on the new SATA drive. The old IDE had started generating so many bad sectors and slow data seek that it is likely to cause a problem. Currently it goes from the long hang on the logo screen to the RAID health check and then to the Windows logon. Thanks CompProb and Nobus, I will disable the screen logo, the Asus one conceals all Boot info. I am concerned that the BIOS stall will become irresolvable. The attached screen shots show the configuration and boot order for the drives, and the available selections. ![]() 2 of the 4 SATA drives are used in a RAID configuration for my Data. I still have my old IDE boot drive installed for data retrieval. My C drive is connected to the SATA 4 socket, nothing said whether SATA boot drive has to be to SATA socket 1. Then for no reason after a few days the BIOS hang and stall problems started. BIOS would load as usual within 5 seconds.Īfter help from PantherTech on repairing the MBR which was assigned to the wrong disc, the machine would boot normally. I attach screen shots of BIOS screens, BIOS version details, and Disc Management showing drive labelling for the 4 SATA drives I use (plus 2 external drives).Īfter changing from XP64bit to Windows 7 64bit, I also changed my IDE boot drive to a SATA drive, and with help from a previous question, got the boot sector on the SATA drive to be recognised.īefore resolving the SATA boot, I had to force boot by using an Acronis boot disc with CD drive as first boot. I explain the changes to my machine after which this problem started. Sometimes when re-booting during the day, BIOS will load in 2 or 3 mins. Every so often BIOS will stall requiring a reboot after which it will load after the 5 to 6 mins. Hi, when booting my machine, Phoenix BIOS will hang for up to 5 to 6 minutes then load normally.
